2013 Lincoln Day Dinner

People came from near and far to attend the Lane County 2013 Lincoln Day Dinner – some as far away as Union County!   If that doesn’t ring a bell, Union County is in the Northeast corner of our state.   This year our event was held at a different location in North Eugene and no matter where you were seated, you had a great view of the stage!

Our master of ceremonies was our Chairman,Paul Barnett, plus we had the honor of our new State ORP Chairwoman Suzanne Gallagher attending and speaking to us as well as helping Paul with the donation drawings.

We had many raffle prizes donated by generous people and businesses; the most sought after prize was a .308 caliber Weatherby Vanguard Rifle with a scope!  The slightly excited winner of this coveted prize was Gabrielle Guidero – congratulations Gabbrielle!  No double-barrel shotgun for her!

This year’s awards consisted of the Chairman’s Award, given to Becky Lemler for her work and dedication on the Lane County Republican’s website.   The Patriots Award went to Howard Widoff for his help on both last year and this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner events.   And a plaque of appreciation was given to Loren Later in appreciation for service as Chairman to our party from 2010 – 2012.

Our special guest speaker of the evening was Michelle Malkin; pro-grassroots advocate, news commentator, proud blogger and Twitterer with a massive following of supporters.  She spoke about the importance of Republicans needing to speak up when the left continues to spew lies.  She also said one of the reasons the Dems are so popular is their involvement with the talk shows, which we don’t pay any attention to, and that we need to keep our own party leaders under the magnifying glass to keep their feet to the fire too because the difference between R’s and D’s is becoming more blurred.

And after the event, Michelle signed copies of her book and took photo's with attendees, you saw a lot of smiles with that!
